My 2007 Sport Trac modifications (click on pictures to enlarge)

Yakima bike rack mount.

I used this Yakima locking bike rack in my Ford Ranger and thought it worked great.  Yakima no longer makes this style of pickup bike rack, but they can be found on Craigslist.

The bike rack has a pin on one side and lock on the other.  Adjust the bar to fit into the pin and post and you have a perfect bike mount.

I used 1/4" thick steel 3" x 6" and welded a 3/4" chunk of bar stock on one plate and drilled a hole on the other plate.  I also drilled a 1/2" hole for padlock or additional strap mounting point.  Replaced bolts with longer M6 X 40 mm bolts.

Gen 1 bed extender

The Gen 1 bed extender (p/n 1U5A-19G299-AA) is narrower than the Gen 2 but using tailgate pins from a 91-95 F150 will give the proper spacing for the bed extender to slide on the pins correctly.  Ford wants $25.00 for the pins for the bed extender, but you can find them at the salvage yard for next to nothing.  Take a Torx T-50 bit and socket to remove and install the pins.
