Mt. Democrat (14,148’) &  Mt. Cameron (14,238’) & Mt. Lincoln (14,286’)  - August 28, 2010 (click pictures to enlarge)

We woke up at 5am to the sound of vehicles driving by the campsite on the way to the trailhead.

Mt. Democrat before sunrise.

Rollin is ready for hot chocolate.

As we approached the fee area parking and trailhead, we knew we would not be alone on the hike.

Those morons in the tents couldn't read the no camping sign (right side of picture)

A look back at Kite lake and the many people hiking.

A couple of switch backs and a traverse to the saddle before climbing Democrat.

A quick break at the saddle between Democrat and Cameron.

Heading up the east side of Democrat.

Mt Bross closed to the public.

Cameron with Grays and Torreys in the far background.

What ski area is in the picture?

The false summit before the final push to the top of Democrat.

Six 14ers in the pic, from left to right: Torreys, Grays, Bierstadt, Evans, Lincoln, Cameron.

The summit of Democrat, alone at last...NOT.

Rollin's 2nd 14er.

Looking down at the road before the trailhead.  These are all of the cars before the trailhead and fee area parking.

Looking southeast at South park and Fairplay.

Looking west at Fremont pass and the Climax mine.

Heading down Democrat to the false summit.  Bross is in the background.

Next stop, Cameron and Lincoln.

Kite lake from the start of the Cameron ascent.

A look back at Democrat from Cameron.

Democrat in the background, the trail along the ridge to Cameron.

Cameron is a lifeless mount, Lincoln is in the background.

Bross, you can drive to the top, closed to the public.

Lincoln.

Bross, closed to the public, click picture to see how many people ignored the private property signs.

Looking north at Wheeler Lake.

USGS marker on Lincoln.

Rollin has a bulletin board at school where kids can post the interesting places they read.  Mt Lincoln isn't a bad place to read.

Pikes Peak

Second USGS marker on Lincoln.

Looking back at Lincoln.

ATVs on Bross.

We forgot to get a picture of Rollin on Cameron, so we caught it on the way back.

We also forgot to get the picture of Rollin's 4th 14er on Lincoln, so this will have to do.

Misc panoramics

Cameron and Bross from the saddle.

Democrat the following morning.

Wheeler lake and Quandary Peak, the only 14er in the Ten Mile Range.

More ranting:

What does that sign mean?
