Mt Bierstadt (14,060’)  - October 15, 2010 (click pictures to enlarge)

Rollin and I climbed Mt. Bierstadt using the standard West Slopes route. Another cloudless day made for cool temps.  We started hiking at 8:30 a.m. with a temperature of 28°F and no wind.

The boardwalks across the willows sparkled in the bright sun.

A race with the sun left us in the shadows as we headed east towards the start of the climb.

Snow started to cover the trail around 12,500'

We hiked on a snow packed trail on the north slopes.

We found a great lunch spot just below the summit where Rollin swapped socks, dried his shoes and we ate lunch.  We had the summit to ourselves for 30 minutes.
