Mt Sniktau (13,234ft) - August 22, 2009 (click pictures to enlarge)
Rollin and I arrived at the top of Loveland pass around
10am to find the lot at the top of the pass to be full, so we parked at the next
pull out down and started our hike. We headed up the ridge to the closest summit
and then headed northeast to Sniktau.

Catching our breath and looking southwest, can you name
the 3 ski resorts in the picture?
Another shot at the 3 ski areas, plus a shot looking
west at another ski area.
A look back at the ridge southwest as we approach the
first false summit. At this point the trail has been easy with a well defined
single track.
The false summit heading northeast.
Mountain grouse on top of the false summit. - Rob, are
the mountain grouse?
Mt Sniktau from the false summit.
Looking down the lift line at Loveland Valley.
Small aircraft below us, he came over Loveland pass and
was following I-70 east.
Talus fields made the hike fun and offered a bit of a
challenge.
Top of Mt Sniktau and above 13,000ft for about an hour
at this point. Check out the video (large) or (small)
of Rollin on his first 13er.
We ate lunch at the top an hung out for a little while
enjoying the beautiful day.
Torreys Peak with Grays Peak tip barely visable.
We will have to conquer those another day.
